Suspension
Suspension is an overview of the suspension systems used in the Pontiac Fiero.
The Fiero uses independent suspension at all four wheels, but the 1984-1987 cars and the 1988 cars use different suspension designs. The 1988 suspension is one of the most important model-year differences in Fiero production.
Overview
The suspension system includes control arms, springs, shocks, struts, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, cradle components, and alignment settings.
Suspension condition has a major effect on handling, braking, tire wear, ride quality, and steering feel. Because Fieros are now several decades old, many suspension problems are related to worn rubber bushings, ball joints, tie rods, shocks, struts, and previous repairs or modifications.
1984-1987 suspension
The 1984-1987 Fiero suspension differs from the later 1988 design. These cars use the earlier front suspension and rear suspension layout.

1988 suspension
The 1988 Fiero received a redesigned suspension system. The 1988 suspension uses different front and rear components from earlier Fieros and is often considered one of the most important improvements made to the car.
