Fieropedia:Editing guidelines
Fieropedia editing guidelines describe how articles should be written, organized, and improved.
Fieropedia is intended to be a structured knowledge base for the Pontiac Fiero. It is not a replacement for Pennock's Fiero Forum, and it is not intended to duplicate forum-style discussion.
Purpose
Fieropedia articles should collect, organize, preserve, and improve useful Fiero knowledge.
Good Fieropedia articles should be:
- Clear
- Factual
- Organized
- Useful to owners and enthusiasts
- Easy to expand
- Linked to related topics
- Supported by references where possible
Articles are not forum threads
Discussion, debate, troubleshooting conversations, personal opinions, and unresolved arguments belong on talk pages or on Pennock's Fiero Forum.
Article pages should summarize useful information in a neutral and organized way.
Writing style
Use clear, direct language.
Avoid unnecessary opinion, hype, personal attacks, jokes, speculation, or unsupported claims.
When something is uncertain, say so. Do not present guesses as facts.
Technical information
Technical articles should identify which cars the information applies to.
Where relevant, include:
- Model year
- Engine
- Transmission
- Trim level
- Option package
- System generation
- Source of the information
For example, headlight information should distinguish between the Gen 1 headlight system and the Gen 2 headlight system.
Repair articles
Repair and diagnostic articles should be organized clearly.
A useful repair article may include:
- Overview
- Symptoms
- Applies to
- Tools and parts
- Safety notes
- Diagnostic steps
- Procedure
- Common mistakes
- Related articles
- References
Reference articles
Reference articles should be careful and source-based.
Examples include:
- Factory specifications
- Production numbers
- Paint codes
- RPO codes
- Part numbers
- Torque specifications
- Wiring diagrams
- Connector pinouts
Do not guess values. If information needs verification, mark it as needing verification.
Using forum information
Pennock's Fiero Forum threads can be valuable references, but forum content should usually be summarized rather than copied.
When using a forum thread, include a link to the original discussion where possible.
Useful forum information may include:
- Verified repairs
- Photos
- Measurements
- Wiring explanations
- Long-term owner experience
- Build documentation
- Parts interchange information
Copyright
Do not copy large amounts of copyrighted text from factory manuals, books, websites, or forum posts unless permission allows it.
Short summaries, original explanations, and links to sources are preferred.
